a Ram-Bro. At 6pm The Doctor was perhaps a bit off his feed, by 10pm he was obviously in pain and had a high fever... The vet arrived at about 11 and diagnosed Urinary Calculi, basically kidney stones, but in such quantity that the entire urinary tract is blocked, causing pain on multiple levels. She tried to catheterize him to relieve the bladder pressure, but to no avail. The only other option is major surgery, which we can’t justify (or afford)... So round about 12:30 he went to sleep for good. He was a good sheep.
subsequent cursory autopsy indicates his bladder may have already been torn from over inflation... Poor guy.

yeah, we feel pretty bad about it, his buddy Freddy was really worried, we had to put him in with the ewes and lambs so we could work, they were good buds and we hope Fred is satisfied with the ewes and doesn’t go looking for his friend.

Interesting to see if his mate has worked out what’s going on and if it knows

Man I’m really sorry to hear that.
I hope Fred is okay too.
We get attached to animals/pets but they also get attached to each other.
Give Fred a hug from me.

The ewes seemed happy to see him, and were welcoming, so he should be distracted by the flock mentality kicking in.
